Rosella unveils a new look for sustainable Tetra Pak packaging

Rosella has partnered with global food packaging company Tetra Pak to launch four new classic soup flavors and transition from cans to Tetra Recart® packaging.

New packaging solution has lowest CO2 footprint in the market. It offers consumers a variety of benefits including portability, easy opening and pouring.

Available in four new flavors – Condensed Tomato, Roasted Tomato with Pepper, Delicious Carrot & Potato and Creamy Pumpkin – Rosella’s new range of classic soups will be the first product in Australia to be packaged in Tetra Recart cardboard packaging.

Tetra Recart packaging has up to six times less impact on the environment than cans*, is easier to open, locks in freshness and keeps food at room temperature, all without any preservatives. It also helps reduce costs and environmental impact for retailers and distributors, as it weighs 60% less than cans and is designed to take up up to 30% less shelf space and 20% less space in transport vehicles.

Tetra Recart packaging is the first autoclavable carton designed for shelf stable food products containing ingredients of almost any size such as vegetables, tomatoes, beans, baked beans, sauces, soups, entrees cooked traditionally filled in tins, glass jars or sachets.

Michael Bartholomew, CEO of Rosella, said he was proud that the new Rosella Soup range is contributing to a more circular economy.

“I am extremely proud of what we have been able to accomplish in partnership with Tetra Pak with the relaunch of the Rosella Soup range. Our move to Tetra Recart packaging allows us to reduce our environmental footprint and contribute to a more circular economy, while delivering the classic taste of Rosella’s signature soups for Australians to enjoy.

Andrew Pooch, managing director of Tetra Pak Australia and New Zealand, said 99% of packaging’s impact on climate change happened before the products hit the shelves.

“We are thrilled to play a part in the transformation journey of an iconic local brand like Rosella by helping its products become more sustainable. It’s great to see Rosella being the first brand in the Australian market to switch to Tetra Recart® packaging.

Rosella Condensed Tomato Soup is available nationwide at Woolworths and Coles, while flavors of Roasted Tomatoes, Delicious Carrot & Potato and Creamy Pumpkin are available nationwide at Coles. The Rosella range of soups will also be offered in select independent supermarkets.
