Shiseido invests in R Plus Japan to boost plastic recycling action


THE WHAT? Shiseido has taken a stake in R Plus Japan with the aim of recycling used plastics to help create a sustainable world.

THE DETAILS As part of this initiative and to address environmental issues, Shiseido has unveiled three strategic actions: reducing our environmental footprint, developing sustainable products, and promoting sustainable and responsible sourcing.

Shiseido works with various stakeholders across the value chain to promote initiatives to reduce environmental impact and use sustainable resources.

According to a press release, “In the area of ​​’sustainable product development’, we aim to achieve 100% sustainable containers and packaging that are either ‘reusable’, ‘recyclable’ or ‘biodegradable’ by 2025, on the basis of the concept of the circular economy, and is actively developing initiatives such as the use of “refillable/reattachable” containers and the in-store collection of used containers.

THE WHY ? Shiseido works with R Plus Japan and participating companies to promote the recycling of used plastics and contribute “to the realization of a sustainable world as a member of the value chain related to plastic recycling in Japan”.
